It felt really good to finally get to Hostel Tadeo a few days ago. I went out to dinner with friends the first night, but they were all feeling pretty lazy because they went to Sunday Funday the night before. Sunday Funday in San Juan is this crazy series of pool parties. You pay an entrance fee and then open a tab, then a bus driver takes you to a few hostels up on the mountainsides with big pools and hundreds of people, every few hours the buses come and pick people up to move on to the next party, there is food and everything is just put on your open tab. After the pool parties they bring people to town and I guess on Sundays the bars don't close...at all...It sounds like my friends had fun, but I'm pretty happy to have missed it and to just hang-low for a few days.
Yesterday I went to the beach for a swim, then found a real cheap place with a new Australian friend of mine. It was 3$ for an awesome full meal, chicken with jalapenos, rice, beans, tortilla, and a medley of veggies. Then we walked to a local fishing shop where he bought a fishing pole. When he was looking at the pole, he bent it slightly to see how much give there was and it snapped immediately. He made do with the bottom half of the pole though, and he's still working on catching some dinner! I took some pictures while I watched him fish as the sun set. Check a few out below, there is more on my facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100005020184846.
I did a lot of chatting with my friends and we spent last night chatting about life and our experiences, I'll admit that I was getting a little discouraged trying to chase all these new friends around and leaving some really cool people that I wanted to get to know better behind. After discussing with them I came to a realization that I will just have to find my own pace of travel, or else it will cost me too much. The last couple days have been real relaxed and I think I'm finding a better grove for myself.
P.S. to any of my new friends that might be reading this and that I didn't mention by name I appreciate all of the experiences with you guys equally as much and hope to stay in great contact, I just can't write 15 pages every time that I sit down to type! I hope to see you all again very soon!
